Location
Purchased Fulwood Meadow, in Exmoor, to support initiatives to restore the temperate UK rainforest and help return the land to its natural state.
Species
This will include oak, birch, ash, pine and hazel. Our local expert will recommend what we plant and where throughout the year.
Management Plan
We’re collaborating with a local expert affiliated with the Forestry Commission who will manage and maintain the meadow.
Long Term Goals
Our long-term aim is to create similar pockets in the areas that we operate. We plan is to replicate the UK initiative in Tanzania next.

How it Works
As part of our commitment to more sustainable filmmaking, VI Rental is proud to support BBC Countryfile's production with an environmentally responsible solution.
We've calculated the annual CO2 emissions of Country File's kit hire by assuming:
-
6 FX6 kits delivered via Euro 6 compliant vehicle
-
Based on 6 round-trips of 116 miles (Bristol to Adam's Farm used as average distance), 52 times per year
-
This equates to 6,540 kg of CO2 per year
One of our saplings can absorb roughly 7.5 kg CO2 a year, so we're pleased to gift the 872 young trees required to make Country File's kit hire carbon neutral for 2025.
Beyond carbon offsetting, this initiative nurtures biodiversity and reinforces the environmental values at the heart of countryfile.
By collectively investing in natural solutions, we're helping to protect the landscapes and wildlife that the programme brings into homes across the UK every week.
1. You Rent Kit
When your kit rental is confirmed, we calculate your kit's average Co2 emissions by using kit weight, transport mode and distance travelled.
2. We Plant Trees
We'll then assign and plant a specific number of trees to offset your kit's Co2 emissions.
3. We Help Save the Planet
In addition to making your production's kit hire carbon neutral, you've also contributed to the regeneration of the UK temperate rainforest.

Our Growing Meadow
Temperate rainforests once covered a fifth of the UK—now, only 1% remains. These rare forests are vital for wildlife and climate, naturally absorbing Co2.
We’re committed to restoring them. Once Fulwood Meadow is fully planted, we’ll take on more land—one tree at a time, reducing our impact on the planet.
